Quadsat Raises DKK 37 Million to Accelerate Electronic Warfare Capabilities and Drive International Growth
Quadsat, one of Odense’s pioneering robotics startups, announced in July that it had secured DKK 37 million in a new funding round.
The investment, backed by both existing and new investors – including Join Capital and North Ventures – will be used to accelerate electronic warfare capabilities, expand the company’s footprint in the defense sector, and advance the development of cutting-edge RF and spectrum analysis solutions.
Odense Robotics StartUp Hub as a Growth Platform
Founded in 2017 by Joakim Espeland and Andrian Buchi, Quadsat started its journey in the Odense Robotics StartUp Hub. At that time, Quadsat consisted of 2–3 employees and had grown to around 8 by the time they completed the program. Today, Quadsat has expanded into an international team of more than 50 employees, with a significant share coming from outside Denmark.
With its large share of international employees, Quadsat shows how crucial global talent is for scaling robotics companies. Here, initiatives such as International House Odense make a real difference. International House Odense helps Odense-based companies recruit and retain highly skilled employees from abroad and supports international hires with settling into the city, building networks, and engaging in local activities. For companies like Quadsat, this is an important resource when it comes to attracting and keeping the qualified workforce needed to compete globally.
Quadsat is just one out of several success stories emerging from the Odense Robotics StartUp Hub. In 2024, the hub had an impressive survival rate, as more than 75% of participating companies continued to develop their product or business after the program ended. This strong track record underscores the hub’s ability to prepare startups for long-term market success and sustainable growth.
“We’ve come a long way – from just a few people starting out in the Odense Robotics StartUp Hub to building an international team working on technology that can truly make a difference on the battlefield. Being based in Odense has given us access to international talent as well as unique opportunities, such as participating in Unconference organized by Invest in Odense, where we first met one of the investors – Join Capital, which have joined us in the latest round. Opportunities and connections like these have played a key role in getting us to where we are today,”
Revolutionizing Defense: Quadsat’s Signal-Detecting Drones
Quadsat’s technology equips drones with advanced measurement systems capable of capturing and analyzing radio signals from hundreds of kilometers away. Initially designed to test satellite antenna performance, the solution now provides defense forces with the ability to locate and identify hostile signals – a critical capability that traditionally required much larger and more costly military platforms.
Being drone agnostic, Quadsat’s payload can be integrated on any type of drone – from multi-rotor to fixed-wing – giving users the flexibility to choose the platform that best fits their mission needs. This versatility is already being demonstrated through collaborations such as the one with Upteko on multi-rotor integrations.
Track Record of Strong Investments
Over the years, Quadsat has attracted significant financial backing to scale its technology and market reach. In total, the company has raised more than DKK 130 million through multiple funding rounds. These rounds have been supported by a strong mix of local and international investors, including Helge Munk, Torben Frigaard, EIFO, Seraphim Capital, IQ Capital, Join Capital, and North Ventures. This blend of investors highlights both local confidence in Odense’s robotics ecosystem and international recognition of Quadsat’s global potential.
