Nilpeter, A tradition of innovation now also in Odense

Originally a local service provider for newspaper presses, Nilpeter has grown into a world-leading manufacturer of printing solutions for labels and flexible packaging. With its headquarters in Slagelse and major production facilities in Europe and Asia, Nilpeter is present in 65 countries – and now also in the City of Odense.   

The company, with its 500 employees worldwide, is on a digital journey – adding digital tools to its manufacturing and sales processes. And this is where Odense comes into play. The new small department (4 work spaces at the moment) will mainly focus on digital solutions and software development. This move ensures that Nilpeter can tap into the talent pool from Funen, particularly from the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). 

Tapping into local talent 

Uffe Nybro Jensen, Global Development Manager and Carsten Clemensen, CTO, emphasize that the competencies and knowledge available in Odense are crucial for the next generation’s growth opportunities for Nilpeter.  

Staff in Odense will for instance work on further developing of the intelligent usage of cloud data collected from machines and the Digital Shadows – visualizing the machines built for printing companies worldwide, aiding both to smooth marketing and sales processes.

Automation at the core of production

Nilpeter delivers to printing companies around the world, with their machines primarily built in Slagelse and India. A tour of the production facilities in Slagelse showcased how far Nilpeter has come in integrating robots and automation into their production processes. Skilled employees work with the finest tools and the latest technology. Currently, three large robotic systems are being installed in the machine factory, integrated by specialists from Finland, Sweden, and Germany, ensuring that production in Denmark continues to thrive.  

Nilpeter is ahead of its competitors in many areas, but competition is fierce globally. That’s why Nilpeter’s state-of-the-art solutions create new opportunities in the printing process for customers worldwide. In Odense, collaboration with strong partners like B&R and projects with SDU will drive the next steps. Nilpeter plans to be present at SDU internship days.
