Fast-Growing Space Company Builds New Headquarters at HCA Airport
Spaceline is constructing a brand-new headquarters in HCA Airport’s business park to support the company’s rapid international growth. The company expects to expand from 15 to 100 employees by the end of 2026.
After several years as a tenant, the Odense-based company Spaceline is now establishing a completely new 1,000 m² headquarters in HCA Airport’s business park.
By combining sensor and camera data from its own stratospheric balloons with data from other sources, such as satellites, Spaceline can monitor everything from remote land areas to critical infrastructure and endangered ecosystems. Thanks to the use of stratospheric balloons instead of satellites, Spaceline can conduct continuous monitoring for extended periods and in near real-time, at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional satellite technology.
“The location in HCA Airport’s business park is a natural and strategic step for us. The ecosystem around HCA Airport and UAS Denmark brings together some of the most ambitious players within space, drone, and defense technology in Denmark. Our new headquarters will not only serve as an administrative office but also as a unique center for the development, production, and operation of advanced stratospheric and space-based systems, right here from Odense. For us, this is not just about constructing square meters; it’s about investing in an environment where collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing drive future growth. We’re proud to have grown out of this ecosystem and to be contributing to shaping its future,”
Strong Synergies Between the Drone Cluster and Space Industry
Odense Mayor Peter Rahbæk Juel emphasizes that Odense and Funen have a strong ecosystem within drones and robotics, largely based on world-leading research from the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Spaceline also originated from SDU’s research environment and maintains close collaboration with the local drone and robotics cluster.
“The University of Southern Denmark, together with the robotics and drone cluster, is the gift that keeps on giving—now also in space. I’m delighted to see Spaceline succeeding with their technology, which creates a new link between drones and satellites. Their establishment of a new headquarters at HCA Airport strengthens the airport’s ecosystem, which has been growing year by year. I expect this ecosystem—and companies like Spaceline—to contribute significantly to achieving our goal of creating 30,000 new private-sector jobs,”
Mayor of Nordfyn Municipality Mette Landtved-Holm adds that this development underlines the region’s growing strength.
“Spaceline’s decision to build here sends a strong signal. It creates local jobs and shows that Odense and North Funen together have something truly special to offer — even in a world where security and advanced technology matter more than ever,”
Unique Environment and Collaboration at HCA Airport
From HCA Airport’s perspective, CEO Hans Okholm Vejrup sees Spaceline’s decision as a testament to the airport’s appeal as a business environment, thanks to its drone ecosystem and close collaboration with the Danish Defence. Spaceline’s new headquarters will be located in HCA Airport’s newly developed section of the business park, which covers four hectares. This new section was established in early 2025 and, with Spaceline’s lease, is already fully occupied.
“We’re pleased to see how Spaceline has evolved from a startup to a growth company during their time at HCA Airport, and we look forward to supporting their continued journey. At the same time, Spaceline’s success highlights the strong synergies between the drone and space industries, and it demonstrates that the facilities and expertise we provide here at HCA Airport are also highly relevant to the space sector,”
