Dutch Technology in Danish Nursing Homes

The Dutch health tech company Qwiek is well established in both the Benelux and DACH regions. Now they have opened an office in Odense in order to enter the Danish market.

The challenges in western society are well known: We have an increasing number of elderly, as well as a growing number of elderly with chronic diseases such as dementia, while also having a lack of educated personnel to help and secure quality of life.

The solutions are tech and innovation, and the Dutch company Qwiek does both. Among others, they have developed a solution where pictures and sound calm uneasy and confused citizens with dementia, or simply heighten the quality of life at nursing homes. They are already well established in the markets in both the Benelux and the DACH region and have now opened an office in Odense to penetrate the Danish market.

But why is that? Compared to Germany and the Netherlands, the Danish market is incredibly small.

Peter Isaksen is Danish, has been working in the Netherlands since 2014, and has been a sales manager at Qwiek for the last 2 years.

“Naturally, for me, Denmark was an obvious next market, and I’ve kept an eye on Odense for some years now. It’s centrally placed, house prices and salaries are cheaper than in the Copenhagen area, and when it comes to healthcare innovation, there is a lot of network and opportunities in Odense“, Peter Isaksen explains.

Huge Market Share and Constant Focus on Innovation

Though the demographic challenges have been well known for years, it is not easy making solutions that fit the public healthcare sector, with high demands regarding data security, efficiency, easy implementation etc.

But Qwiek has solved all these obstacles and has its products in every other nursing home in the Netherlands, has already sold its products to 60 customers in Denmark, and has now hired a second employee to increase sales. Besides that, they have a constant focus on innovation as well as close dialogue and feedback from users and keep developing their solutions to fit the needs of modern healthcare.

• Qwiek has already signed up as a member of the public/private network, CareNet and Danish Life Science Cluster with 10 consultants established in Odense
• Qwiek has established itself in Forskerparken, the science park, where both CareNet, the national cluster and Healthcare Denmark are located
